Opto-Mechanical Services Minimize

Our Mechanical Design team takes our optical designs and brings them a crucial step closer to final production. Opto-Mechanical design can be tricky at times and experience is key to success. Our experience with opto-mechanical designs includes applications such as custom lens housings, zoom lens housings, filter wheels, mechanical shutters, stabilized platforms for optical systems and much more.  Our team uses SolidWorks and Cosmos for all our opto-mechanical and FEA design.

We provide a full range of opto-mechanical services. We can take an optical design and provide cutting edge mounting hardware to meet the most demanding needs. We have extensive experience with not only basic lens housings and zoom lens housings, but also complex telescope mounting, rotating filterwheels, variable focus mechanisms, and more.

Our experience allows us to narrow down critical design parameters to arrive at an efficient solution. We provide detailed drawing services and tolerancing for all our opto-mechanical designs. No aspect of the design is overlooked. We know materials and how they interact with different glass types. Opto-Mechanical design is a balancing act of materials, requirements, and performance, and CODE has mastered it.

Below is a sampling of a few our current and past opto-mechanical projects. Feel free to contact us about any of the examples that you have seen here.

Zoom Lens System Design Considerations Minimize

We are currently designing a motorized zoom lens system to be integrated into an Acquisition, Tracking, and Pointing (ATP) bench setup. Our preliminary lens design has three lens groups, each of which must be moved separately during zooming. The design features realatively short lens movements, which is a critical feature in view of the very tight boresight and zoom speed requirements. learn more...

Custom Lens Mount Minimize

Contrast designed, built, aligned, and fielded a custom lens mount for use in demanding environmental conditions. The lens system we designed had to adapt to a legacy camera system, which was no longer in production. Contrast first had to reverse-engineer the legacy camera lens and then we designed the wide-field adapter lens to work perfectly with this legacy optical system. learn more...

Fixed Focus System Design Minimize

The lens mounting scheme in this design reflects the design intent of the system to be a fixed-focus, unitized sensor system with no anticipated need for change of focus, aperture, or field of view. A cassette approach was used in design, mounting, and assembly of the lens system. The cassette method provides a simple assembly procedure that is yields relatively tight tolerances with relatively little assembly expertise required. learn more...

How we work Minimize

Our clients think of us as their very own in-house optical, mechanical, and systems engineering experts.

Some of our clients have very specific design or analysis projects, with well-defined starting and stopping points. Some of our clients keep us on retainer, calling us only when immediate needs come up. Some of our clients have a continuous, but only part-time, need for expert opinions and advice.

If you have a short-term or part-time need for an optics expert or an opto-mechanical engineer or an electronics expert, why hire a new employee when we can fill that need for you?

Give us a call or drop us a line and let’s discuss how we can help you. We can work with you to define a plan of action, and then we can put together an estimate or a quote for the work you need done.

We accept all major credit cards, and we also accept Purchase Orders from qualified organizations. We can start working for you today!
